Instruments in Hands

Performer: Quinn Dooley

Canada is a tremendous country, rich in resources in every sense of the word. However these resources are not distributed equally, with Many Canadians enjoying access to enriched experiences and learning opportunities that are not available to all communities.

The GTP Instruments In Hands initiative aims to serve some of these less privileged sectors, providing aspiring artists with a purchased or rented musical instrument and teaming them up with an Actor-Musician mentor.

Our goal is to seek individuals of any age who are in clear need, for example, those within marginalized or at-risk communities, children in schools where arts funding has been reduced, older adults living in care homes and newcomers to Canada.

We seek to facilitate opportunities for every Canadian to express themselves and grow artistically. Instruments in Hands will provide a no-barrier, easy access opportunity to engage in instrumental learning, either in person or online (depending on the learner’s preference) and always in compliance with Covid-19 safety precautions.

The Musical Mentors for “Instruments in Hands”

GTP has a company of experienced, seasoned and professional Actor-Musicians who will partner with students in 1:1 lessons, either conducted in person or online. Each Actor-Musician mentor will be specifically selected to support the needs of the individual Instruments in Hands student.

Our company of artists have benefited from privileged education and are motivated to give back to a new generation of Actor-Musicians. Currently, artists are largely unable to perform and engage in the arts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instruments in Hands provides these highly skilled Actor-Musicians an opportunity to share their unique skills, engage with musical learners, and gain meaningful employment, while giving back to those in need.

Come Play with Us

The pandemic presented us with some challenging years. It was a time where physical safety was prioritized over community connection. And while this was necessary, it took a toll on us all.

Our sincere hope post-pandemic is to provide a means for people to reconnect, by taking part in the joyful, collective act of making music together. And we want you to be involved.
