About
There is a special kind of magic that happens when a group of artists create the entire musical world of a play.
Donna Garner has experienced this magic throughout her career, working all over North America as an Actor-Musician. In 2018 she formed Garner Theatre Productions to honour these remarkable artists.
In the fall of that year she staged an experiment: gathering together a cast of Canadian Actor-Musicians to workshop and present A Man of No Importance. The response was overwhelming and led to the official creation of Garner Theatre Productions.
in February of 2020, GTP officially launched With 22 of Canada’s most talented Actor-Musicians Performing to an enthusiastic and packed house at Toronto’s Hugh’s Room.
Throughout COVID-19 the company has worked tirelessly to support toronto’s community of artists; Donna’s #AlleyJam series has become a haven for local musicians looking for a creative outlet.
We look forward to expanding our operations and reaching out to an ever growing community. New performances are in the works. Our Instruments In Hands initiative, led by our remarkable Education team, will connect with emerging artists in disenfranchised communities.
